Jung-sook Kim is the Founder & Chair of Korean Institute for Women and Politics (KIWP) since 1989. As president and chair, she leads various international institutions for women participation in politics such as the Center for Asia-Pacific Women in Politics (CAPWIP) in Manila and the Korean Women and Politics Association (KWPA) in Seoul. She is also the President of the Girl Scouts of Korea since 2006. She has been an active member of the National Council in the School of Education & Human Development at George Washington University as well as the Deliberation Committee of Korea Publication Ethics Commission in Korea.
Starting at the Seoul branch of CITI Bank in 1969, President Kim developed a steady, impressive political career as she became the District Chairperson for Anyang City Constituency for 12 years and continued as the Chairperson for the Central WomenĄŻs Committee of G.N.P. In 1992, she became the Deputy spokesperson of the Grand National Party, in which she became a Member of the Supreme Council ten years later. As the Head of Government delegation to the 37th UN Commission of the Status of Women held in Vienna (1993), she also served as the Vice-Minister of the Ministry for Political Affairs.
She specifically focused on women participation and action in politics; in 1997 she started her seven-year career as the Chairperson of the WomenĄŻs Affairs Committee, and a year later she became the Chairperson of the Special Committee on WomenĄŻs Affairs of the National Assembly.
