 Mrs. Sarra Kanoun Jarraya,
Minister for the Affairs of Women Family, Childhood and the Elderly obtained a
doctorate of medical science from the
University of Tunis, she then specialized in paediatric preventive. She also
obtained a statistical studies certificate applied to medicine from René
Descartes University- Paris, France.
Mrs. Jarraya worked as a doctor of public health and as doctor
responsible for the national program for the health of the mother and the child, then as a Director General of the Institute for the advancement of
disabilities and then as Director General of the National Institute for Child
welfare.
In 2004 she was appointed
Secretary of State in charge of children and the elderly within the Ministry
for the Affairs of Women, the Family, Childhood and the Elderly.
Mrs. Jarraya contributed to the preparation and publication of several
studies as well as medical and social research. Among her most
important writings a thesis on exotic objects in the respiratory system; and on the Tunisian adolescent, his
health and his environment, and on the
child in Tunisia, awarded by the President of the Tunisian Republic.
Mrs. Jarraya participated in the
completion of several studies, «consideration of adolescents engaged in
the study of health issues in Tunis» and the national study
on maternal mortality in Tunisia as well as her participation in many
international conferences and demonstrations on childhood, health, women and
the family.
In addition to her contribution through membership in
the committee on women and development in the preparation and evaluation of
national plans and in the national council » women and the family

1992-1995. She also participated in the writing of the national report on the
elimination and of discrimination against women CEDAW 1993, and on
« population and development conference
in Cairo in 1994¡± and many other national reports on women, Beijin 1995
and on social development- The world summit on social development in 1995 and
on a national plan for child survival, protection and development of the scheme
and national action in the area of the family. |
