Barbara is an experienced technology executive. She has successfully led small start-up companies and large corporate technology organizations with globally distributed engineering teams. These organizations have built leading edge software applications and products, using advanced approaches in both technology and engineering management methods. She is now President of a consulting organization, GlobalSight Partners, supporting mid-tier multi-national companies creating globally distributed teams. Prior to this new initiative, she held executive positions at Sun Microsystems, StorageTek, US West, Raynet, and Bell Laboratories. Her academic credentials include a B.S. and M.S. in Physics, and the Stanford Executive Program.
Throughout her career, Barbara Bauer has been a recognized leader in technology innovation, software development and global management. She is known for spearheading advanced projects that have redefined technology roadmaps, and for efforts internationally promoting math, science, engineering and technology education, especially for women. She has served on Executive Advisory Boards for her alma mater, St. Louis University, the WomenĄŻs College at the University of Denver, and the University of Colorado at Boulder College of Engineering. She was on the core team of planners for the National Center for Women and Information Technology. In 2005, Barbara was inducted into the international Women in Technology International Hall of Fame, and in 2007 she was awarded the 2007 Technology Supporter in Colorado by the Colorado Software Association. Recently she was an invited speaker at the 2007 Asia Pacific WomenĄŻs Leadership Network Conference and the preceding Digital Economy Forum for Women.
Barbara also serves as the Director of International Projects for Curriki, a non-profit organization dedicated to the support and distribution of Open Source Curriculum (OSC). She works with IT firms, government Ministers, teachers and administrators to encourage the development and use of free, high quality curriculum resources for students in developing countries.
Barbara is on the Board of Directors, the Public Policy Committee, and the Education Committee for the Colorado Software Industry Association (CSIA). She is a member of the Executive IT Panel for the Denver Metro Economic Development work force project.
